The Brand
The Need
The team wanted to improve their overall visibility and build up a more active new business pipeline. I partnered with Steady Bow to set up and traction test search marketing for Six Heritage with comprehensive PPC coverage to identify top converting queries, and then fed that data into a three month foundational SEO sprint to kickstart the website’s visibility.
The Approach
- Comprehensive SEO audit of the website reviewing all critical aspects from core code to structured markups, UX signals, and core web vitals
- Specifications for developers and the internal content team to both fix errors and improve the organic potential of the website and its copy
- Query research, partnered with PPC testing by Steady Bow, to identify high converting niche topics and build out a new Services section on the website for more specific targeting
- Geography-based analysis for top converting regional queries and expansion of a geo-targeting section built for search footprint along with algorithmic integrity and safety (no future thin content penalty risks!)
- Converting the site’s supporting content area from a barely-used blog to a more evergreen set of Resources, with topics and content briefs researched to maximise search footprint and citation earning
- Google My Business optimisation work to boost geographic and maps-based targeting for relevant services
- Offsite placements on key topically-relevant sites such as Homify, BDC Magazine and e-Architect, to kickstart domain equity growth and enhance overall audience visibility
The Results
comparing July-December to the same period in the previous year
- from zero visibility to averaging first page results for relevant key queries such as “heritage surveyors”
- multiple regular AI overview citations around highly relevant higher funnel terms such as “retrospective listed building consent” and “grade 2 listed building restrictions”
- +267% organic traffic to the website year on year
- +800% organic contact form submissions YoY
- +133% organic email clicks YoY
- +600% organic phone call taps YoY
The Verdict
As this was the first venture into any kind of search marketing work for Six Heritage it was essential to traction test first with PPC in order to identify top converting queries and make sure that the niche would convert from search results in the first place.
There’s nobody better than Ben at Steady Bow for getting phones ringing, so I didn’t touch anything SEO-wise until he had a solid conversion funnel running on Adwords and plenty of keyword-level CVR data.
This made sure that targeting on the site’s content expansions was nailed from the get go, and kept the focus on new business for the company, not just new visibility. With plenty of inbound enquiries to keep the team occupied, this one was definitely a success story!
